The University of Michigan High Potential Scholarship is designed to support 150 exceptional international students seeking undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral degrees.
The High Potential Scholarship is a $35,000 annual award offered to cover tuition fee and monthly stipend each academic year to highly talented students from outside the United States.
The High Potential Scholarship programme offers 150 scholarships of $35,000 each academic year for highly talented students from outside the United States.
The scholarship is aimed at helping students who have been admitted to an Undergraduate, master’s, PhD programme at the University of Michigan.
The Scholarship programme consists of both the High Potential Scholarship (funded by the University Scholarship Fund), and the Albright Scholarship, which is financed by the Vanderbilt Institute in conjunction with J.Morgan Grant.

Eligibility: To be considered for the University of Michigan High Potential Scholarship, you must:
- Have submitted an application to the University of Michigan for a full-time program for the 2024–2025 academic year.
- Meet U.S. visa requirements for international study
- Not be a citizen of the United States, the European Union/EEA, Switzerland, or Surinam.
- Demonstrate remarkable scholastic accomplishments, ranking in the top 5% of applicants.
- Have never attended a degree-seeking program in the United States (participants in exchange programs are accepted).
- Be younger than 45 on September 1, 2024.
