There are two ways (Type A and Type B) for you to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship. A student may either apply through the local Chinese Embassy/Consulate and dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home countries or directly through Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT).

To apply through Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications directly. The Agency Number of CQUPT is 10617. Master Programs has a duration of 3 years while Doctoral programs has 4.

- be an academically excellent holder of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 35 when applying for a Master’s program
- be an academically excellent holder of a Master’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program

How To Apply:
- Complete the online application procedure at CSC Online Application System for International Students. The Agency Number of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunication is 10617. Please choose program category —Type B Application, then fill in the application form online. After submission, download Application Form, print a hard copy and sign it.
- Complete the online application procedure at CQUPT International Student Service System. Please choose your program: The Chinese government scholarship, and upload the required documents and then submit online application form.
Required Documents:
- Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form
- Diploma and certificate of highest education: Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date
- Official academic transcripts: Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided.
- A Research Proposal: Including research title, introduction with research question, literature review, methodology, reference ect; must be in Chinese or English; for master candidates: no less than 1000 words; for doctoral students: no less than 1500 words)
- Curriculum Vitae(CV): Including personal information, educational background, research interest, research experience, papers and publishers, honors and certificates ect
- A Study Plan: Including purpose of study and plan during graduate study and after graduation.
- Two recommendation letters: signed by a professor or an associate professor(written in Chinese or English. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities both in China and abroad
- Copy of Valid Passport (expire date later than 30th, December 2024) and Passport size Photo
- The record of study or employment in China if you have ever studied or worked in China;
- The physical examinations: written in English and must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan the physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.
- Non-criminal Record; The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
- Certificate of language proficiency. A copy of HSK results or IELTS or TOEFL results or Chinese Language or English study certificate (if available)
- Pre-admission Letter issued by CQUPT. The university will issue Pre-admission documents to applicants who pass the interview and be in the recommendation list.
- Other documents (if available).
