2024 Federal Bilateral Education Scholarship Awards

The Federal Bilateral Education Scholarship Awards offer a chance for eligible and interested Nigerians to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies overseas.

 The Federal Bilateral Education Scholarship (BEA) by the Ministry of Education for interested and qualified Nigerians are detailed as follows:

  1. Undergraduate (UG) studies tenable in Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Egypt and Algeria;
  2. Postgraduate (PG) studies tenable in Russia (for those whose first degrees   were obtained from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, Romania.

General note to all applicants: 

  1. Since the BEA countries are non-English speaking, applicants should be prepared to undertake a mandatory one-year foreign Language course of the Country of choice which will be the standard medium of instruction;
  2. All applicants for Hungarian Scholarship can apply for up to two fields of study in order of preference, and must visit the website which was opened Middle November to close 16th January, 2024.

Eligible Field of Study:

  1. Undergraduate level – Engineering, Geology, Agriculture, Sciences, Mathematics,  Environmental Sciences, Sports, Law, Social Sciences, Biotechnology, Architecture, Medicine (very limited), Pilot Engineering, Neurologist and
  2. Postgraduate level (Masters Degree and PhD) in all fields.

Eligible Countries: Nigeria

Eligibility: To be considered for the Federal Bilateral Education Scholarship:

  1. UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Seven (7) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificates, WASSCE/WAEC (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their fields of study including English Language and Mathematics. Certificates should not be more than two (2) years old (2022 & 2023) for Non-African Countries and for African countries the age of certificate is one year (2023) only. Age limit is from 17 to 20 year.

POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All applicants for Postgraduate degree courses must hold a First Degree with 1st Class or at least 2nd Class Upper Division. 

All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C. Programme and the age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D. 

  1. N.Y.S.C discharge or exemption certificates only are accepted.
  2. Evidence of readiness to be released by an employer.

  1. Visit Federal Ministry of Education’s website and click on Federal Scholarship Board ICON on the Home Page
  2. Read Guidelines and then Complete the Application Form online
  3. Print the completed Application Form

  1. All applicants for Russia should visit the website which is opened.
  2. All applicants for Russian Postgraduate Scholarship must have acquired their 1st   Degree in Russia.
  3. All documents to be uploaded on the Russian  Application portal and must be properly scanned in PDF format.
  4. All Applicants to upload the required certificates online.

Required Documents: All Applicants to upload the following certificates online;

  1. UNDERGRADUATE (UG): WAEC/WASSCE & NIN Slip
  2. POSTGRADUATE (PG): 1st Degree Certificate, NIN Slip & NYSC discharge or exemption Certificate.

NB: Candidates nominated by the Board will be required to submit to Federal Scholarship Board the following:

  1. Authenticated copies of academic certificates; 
  2. Data page of the current International passport; 
  3. Specified Medical Reports from Government hospitals;
  4. Birth Certificate & Indigene letter.
  5. Police Clearance Certificate where necessary.
