The ASMAF Scholarship is awarded primarily based on the financial need of the applicant and her family, with a strong emphasis on academic merit. Candidates must demonstrate superior academic ability and a commitment to personal and professional growth. The scholarship provides:
- Comprehensive Financial Support: Covers tuition, board, and upkeep for up to six years at a public Nigerian university, contingent upon the course of study and continued academic performance.
- Leadership and Life Skills Development: Includes mentoring and structured programmes aimed at fostering leadership, resilience, and holistic personal development.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the ASMAF Scholarship, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Be a female Nigerian citizen from an indigent background.
- Be undertaking tertiary education for the first time.
- Have gained admission into or be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate programme in Medicine, Law, Actuarial Science, Engineering, Accountancy, Architecture, or other professional courses at a public Nigerian university.
- Demonstrate financial need and academic excellence.
- Exhibit strong leadership potential and a commitment to professional growth.
Application Guidelines
Interested candidates must complete the online application form and submit all required documentation by Friday, 12th September 2025. Late submissions will not be considered. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted, and all selection decisions are final.
Applicants must provide:
- Evidence of university admission via JAMB.
- Academic records including credit passes from GCE, NECO, WASC, or other approved examinations.
- Proof of success in post-JAMB assessments or current university registration with certified transcripts.
Recommenders and referees must be non-relatives and familiar with the applicant’s academic and financial background. Incomplete or falsified applications will be deemed ineligible.
Selection Process
The selection process involves:
- Verification of eligibility criteria.
- Contacting recommenders for further insights.
- Ranking applicants based on course of study, state of origin, and university location.
- Final selection based on available funding.
Successful applicants will receive a formal offer and must respond within the stipulated timeframe.
Scholarship Conditions
Awardees must:
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Submit an annual progress report.
- Refrain from full-time employment and seek ASMAF’s approval for any part-time work.
- Not hold other scholarships without written consent.
- Not change their course of study unless approved by ASMAF.
The scholarship is non-transferable and renewable annually, subject to academic performance and participation in ASMAF programmes.
Termination of Award
The scholarship may be terminated if:
- The awardee no longer meets eligibility requirements.
- The university terminates the student’s enrollment.
- Academic performance is unsatisfactory.
- False information is provided.
- The annual progress report is not submitted.
Reinstatement is only possible if termination occurred in error.
