2023 AHRI/UCL Studentship Awards at University College London, UK

The AHRI/UCL Studentship Award covers tuition fees and living costs for two candidates to undertake a degree program at UCL. The award is funded by UCL’s Division of Infection and Immunity and is open to applicants who permanently reside in South Africa.

The proposed research must be in the field of Medical Sciences and/or Population Health. This covers everything from single molecules through cells and tissues to whole organisms and animal and human populations for improved human health and wellbeing worldwide.

Value of Award: The Scholarship will cover:

  1. Full UCL tuition fees for a one-year full-time taught master’s degree.
  2. A round-trip economy air fare to and from the UK.
  3. A monthly stipend to cover housing and living costs for 50 weeks.
  4. National Health Service (NHS) surcharge and Tier 4 visa costs.

Duration of Award: 1 year

Eligibility: The UCL/AHRI Scholarship candidate:

  1. Must be permanently based in South Africa at the time of application.
  2. Must hold a valid passport at the time of application.
  3. Must have an Honours degree equivalent to a Bachelor (Honours) degree with Second Class Division 1 Honours or 70% in an appropriate subject.
  4. The successful applicant will need to be in London to start their chosen course in September 2021.

  2. Letter of recommendation from your proposed supervisor at UCL.
