Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship of Embassy Recommendation is now open for the 2024 session. There are two ways to apply for a Japanese Government Scholarship: by applying to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) with a recommendation from a Japanese embassy or other Japanese diplomatic mission in your country, or by applying to the MEXT with a recommendation from a Japanese university.
Application Deadline: Applications for most embassies vary, and should be submitted before 20th June 2023.

Eligibility: MEXT scholarship is one of the few opportunities covering full expenses hence very competitive in nature. Being eligible and having a high academic performance (GPA 2.3 or above out of 3.0) is vital. The eligibility criteria vary for applicants ”before coming to Japan / before entering a university”, and ”after coming to Japan / before entering a university”.
